The project for the new headquarters of the Itas Foundation in Trento is placed in the Albere’s district, a new urban area recently designed by the architect Renzo Piano. This area was occupied throughout all the 20th century by the Michelin factory. The shape of the roof of the proposed building recalls the same silhouette of industrial hangars, now demolished, conferring to the Itas Foundation a characteristic presence and an easily recognizable profile based on the identity and the memory of the place. The new building materials are limestone, opal and transparent glass. A wide and high foyer leads to an auditorium of 444 seats. At the first floor there is an exhibition space, overlooking the principal hall of the ground floor, in order to relate and connect the activities that take place in the foyer with the events of the exhibition space. On the second floor are arranged the meetings and lecture rooms, while the top floor is dedicated to the offices and Presidency of the future Itas Foundation.
Il progetto prevede la realizzazione della nuova sede della Fondazione Itas a Trento. L’edificio si inserisce nel quartiere delle Albere disegnato da Renzo Piano dove per tutto il ventesimo secolo sorgeva lo stabilimento industriale della Michelin. La copertura del volume vetrato riproduce in maniera nuova e contemporanea la stessa silhouette dei capannoni industriali, conferendo alla Fondazione Itas una presenza caratteristica, un’immagine identitaria, facilmente riconoscibile, e al tempo stesso evocativa. Il nuovo edificio è realizzato in pietra chiara e in vetro opalino e trasparente. Un ampio foyer a doppia e tripla altezza conduce ad un auditorim da 444 posti a sedere. Al primo piano è collocato lo spazio espositivo dal quale è possibile affacciarsi sulla hall principale del piano terra, mettendo così in relazione le diverse attività che si svolgono nello spazio espositivo e nel foyer. Al secondo piano sono disposte le sale modulabili per corsi e meeting mentre l’ultimo piano è dedicato agli uffici e alla Presidenza della futura Fondazione Itas.
