How to design the new Bauhaus museum in Dessau? Through the creation of an autonomous fragment. An essential architecture, an archaic geometry. A pure geometric form in the shapeless space of a modern piranesi’s campomarzio. This is the new Bauhaus museum in Dessau! The absolute form as meaning. Form and function. A big cross defines four huge glazed spaces towards the park and holds up the upper floor dedicated to the Bauhaus exhibition. A building designed like a big museum machine, perfectly working. The ticket and information office is placed in a glazed foyer, close to the cafeteria and the shop. The other three glazed spaces are dedicated to the workshops and temporary exhibitions. In the big cross there are all the services and a monumental staircase, lightened by skylight, leading to the upper floor. A small technical volume, accessible from Friedrichstraße, hides the loading and unloading area.
Come progettare un nuovo museo del Bauhaus a Dessau? Attraverso la creazione di un frammento autonomo. Un’architettura essenziale, geometricamente primitiva. Una forma geometrica pura nello spazio informe di un moderno campomarzio piranesiano. E’ questo il nuovo museo del Bauhaus a Dessau! La forma assoluta come significato. Forma e funzione. Una grande croce definisce quattro grandi spazi vetrati sul parco e sostiene il piano espositivo dedicato alla mostra sul Bauhaus. Un edificio pensato come una grande macchina museale perfettamente funzionante. Un foyer vetrato, dove sono collocati la biglietteria e il servizio informazioni del museo, accoglie i visitatori e i gruppi. Direttamente a ridosso del foyer sono disposti la caffetteria e lo shop. Gli altri tre spazi vetrati sul parco ospitano rispettivamente l’area workshop ed eventi e le mostre temporanee. Nella grande croce sono sistemati tutti i servizi e una doppia scala monumentale illuminata zenitalmente che conduce al piano superiore. Un piccolo volume tecnico separato e accessibile da Friedrichstraße nasconde l’area di carico e scarico.
